As you expected different NAS usually sound different, most audiophile user is finding the best sounding NAS like I-O data fidata, Qnap and Synology NAS. We received so much comments from the user. The final comments is to choose the audio grade NAS if possible, because of the design and implementation is from audio engineer. The internal clock from the Audio Grade NAS is totally different design. What is the most important design for audio audiophile NAS? First the NAS needs to be designed with fan-less, silent, and always implement with audiophile's mind to develop the anti-resonance enclosure. Most important the motherboard of NAS needs to be away from power supply and the HDD which produce electro magnetic field and EMI. The most polluted areas is the connector of the SATA III and power cable, which can affect the sound quality and signal paths. Which sound the best SSD or HDD? This is always depends on the tastes of audiophile, we have some comments from experience audiophile with NAS. He would suggested that HDD is being the most natural way to present the music, it just smoother then SSD. However, the sounding from SSD is more details in clarity. Which HDD is the best for NAS? Properly the low rpm one like 5900rpm is sound the best in terms of less verberation and low background noise. Which SSD is the best sounding for NAS? Samung EVO Series is the best in audiophile, it produce more micro dynamic in back ground and details in soundstage. What will recommend for upgrade the NAS? The first important parts is the Linear Power Supply for NAS. It will elminate the harsh and digital sounding. It is because most high profile NAS always consume high power with 5-9 Amp. The EMI noise become a big issue to affect the audio sounding. Technical Insight: What Is DLNA? The Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) is the name of a non-profit organisation that controls the DLNA certification standard. The DLNA standard establishes how enables networked media devices to share data. This means that using DLNA-compliant devices means that you can easily share media. For example, you can stream music from your PC to your TV. DLNA is often used interchangeably with Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) protocols. However, this is not accurate as DLNA enhanced the UPnP protocol with a focus on media. Why Do I Need DLNA Media Server Software?
