The story of developement
We are delighted to work with group of Audiophiles and they email AfterDark. to design a new NETone with the ability to connect their home fiber FTTH (Fiber to the Home) network, which is 2500MB. The latest fiber modem they have at home can process up to 2.5G in bandwidth. They have additonal request to have dual 10G SFP ports build in to connect their existing Finisar 10G SFP, Cisco AOC SFP or latest DAC cable from Amphenol.
The special requested comes from one email received on November 2024, and we are quite lucky, as we just upgrade our Internet Service Provider (ISP) which supports incoming fiber FTTH (Fiber to the Home) at speed 2.5G. So, we can test the performance and sounding with the new motherboard and our Black River Network Cable to develop a new 2.5G NETone switch.
Special thanks we received requested from Audiophile for 2.5G generation switch, we have start the R&D on 2.5G switch with well know chipset provider to cope with future demands for Audiophiles. We have developed this switch with total bandwidth of 60G, to copes with 4 ports of 2.5G Lan ports + 10G native SFP port x 2. Very impressive performance with moderate heat with pressive heat sink on CPU, the NETone Quad Extreme only runs warm when it is full powered in the lab testing.
The NETone Quad switch may be one of the best and very first 2.5G switch in the world to have Quad SFP+ x OCXO switches with external 10M Master Clock In build in.
The extra 2.5G speed is quite important for today application on the server and workstations, as we need the extra bandwidth for transfer 4K Video files, music files such as DSD, DSF, and streaming 4K Video from YouTube and Netflex. The switch performance is important and the file transfer time in 2.5G can achieve almost 4 times faster, exceeding 380MB/s in average vs 100MB/s from 1G. Due to more bandwidth, the music flow is much smoother and relax sounding when compared.
The NETone Quad Extreme is suggested to connect directly to Audiophile music server, with the arrangement of cascade of quad switches, with cascade of quad optical isolation from SFP connections, all motherboard are optimised with Giesemann Clock Sync Module (GCSM). The NETone Cascade Extreme Quad Switch is tested on Karmann Music Server for a long time, and we managed to fine tune the sounds with some exotic capacitor and cable from Duelund, with more refine and lush sounding for Audiophile.

The concept of NETone Quad Switch
This product will build in four separated motherboards of 2.5G switch. The A, B, C, D switches will be reclock from independent clock signal generated by Giesemann Clock Sync Module (GCSM), the external 10M Master Clock is required to operated. The BNC socket is located at the top right corner. The quad switch will requires a single 12V DC rated at 4.5A to operated. The Audio Note ground pole will be install as standard at right hand side.
The switch will required four SFP fiber or DAC cables to connect from A to B, B to C, C to D.
For example:
- NETone A will connect a SFP fiber cable from router to first SFP port. The second SFP port will connect to SFP of NETone B.
- NETone B will connect a SFP fiber cable to NETone C
- NETone C will connect a SFP fiber cable to NETone D.
- The Music Server will connect 10G SFP Cable to NETone D.
The Quad daisy chain effect will happened, and the sounding will be refined with a lot of microdetails, transparent due to the efflect of network signal was reclocked 4 times with 4 optical isolation process.
The NETone Quad switch will included total 16 RJ45 2.5G Ports + 8 SFP+ 10G ports
How we design a NETone Quad Extreme Edition?
- Improve the outlook which make it more like a audiophile gear
- We love the ideas of 10M Master Clock Input function of quad 2.5G SFP + switch, never seen and invent in the market before.
- The device should be powered externally with audiophile grade LPS
- The power section should be enhanced with more exotic audio capacitors, we planned to use the latest Duelund Silver Capacitor for power section on NETone A, B, C, D.
- The Giesemann 10M Intput Modules (GIM) and Giesemann Clock Sync Module (GCSM) will perform synthesizers 25Mhz independently. this clock signal will be optimised to quad switch.
- The units will be powered by 12V LPS externally.
- Four switches will be installed and all modules should be fit into one single box
- The internal wire with optimised with Duelund Copper Cable, and solder with Audio Note
- The front and backplate will be using Carbon Fiber.
- All the Lan ports inside will be apply with KEMET Corp. EMI Shielding material for eliminate of EMI
- The use of SFP Single Mode Optical Fiber will give you another isolation to connect quad of switches
- Audiophile loves to use DAC SFP cable to connect between quad of A,B,C and D switch, this arrange is never seen and invent in the market before.

The concept of Giesemann 10M Master Clock
The Giesemann OCXO 10M Master Clock is designed for NETone Quad Switch to enhance the integrity of the signal, the well known Giesemann OCXO ensure the accuracy of the master clock prodvide a time domain reference for reading data, its transfer and decoding. As a result, the Master Clock could minimize jitter and ensure the improvement on sounding.
The Giesemann OCXO Master Clock is designed to generate a very accurate, ultra low phase noise 10M Master Clock signal that delivers more accurate transfer and conversion of digital signals for NETone Quad Switch.
The addition of the external 10M Master Clock can improve the soundstage and details of the streaming music, the extraction of details from the background is just amazing and help the your network player and DAC to achieve the maxmium potential, balanced with enhanced timbre, full tone, and escpecially pace, rhythm and timing.

The first listening impression on NETone Quad Extreme :
- This switch is the most natural sounding switch, there is nothing more on the cleaning on signal, so there is warm, and rich texture on presentation. Music flow is smooth as silk, treble is lush , high quality bass and fill up the listening areas with a lot details and decay.
- Music is resolving, very high resolution, real and right at the right places.
- The Giesemann OCXO start to open up and perform after 10 hours and soundstage is much wider and mid range is so sweet, this may happened because the capacitor inside started to burn in.
- After 48 hours powers on, playing music via ROON, my first impression is sounding become so fluid and transparent, the characteristics which other switch do not have. The noise floor is so low, so the micro details can fill the listening areas easily. In addition, we found the bass is more authority, punchy and control.
- The NETone Quad Extreme can amplify the improvement with wider soundstage, this may due to re-clocking of the switches, which makes it happened.

What is the advantages of NETone?

SELECT GIESEMANN OCXO 10M Reference Grading:
The OCXO installed in the product can calibrate the products used in industrial equipment for a long time, and use equipment with good characteristics. In order to optimally select the audio clock, we comprehensively evaluate with Symmetricom Flagship 5125A to analysis the phase noise characteristics and short-term stability (Allen dispersion) that can be determinate the OCXO grading accordingly.
The OCXO installed in this product uses a stable OCXO unit that has been calibrated for several months. In order to make the best choice of OCXO. We are conducting a comprehensive evaluation of phase noise characteristics and short-term stability (Allen dispersion) during detailed inspection.
The final product will final measured and fine tuned with Keysight 53220A with reference to Atomic Clock , GPSDO.
